Hanson Oaks is a small community of 65 townhouses nestled between John Hanson Hwy, Route 410 and Ellin Road. The community is within a 10 minute walk of the New Carrollton Metro, the Amtrak Station, the MARC, the IRS building, the Greyhound Bus Line and the Purple Line.

Community governance is provided through a homeowners' association - the Hanson Oaks Association, Incorporated. Each house is privately owned and each homeowner is a legal member of the association. The Association is run by a Board of Directors elected from among Association members.

The Association maintains areas held in common by Association members. Association dues are $125 per month.  Dues are used for maintaining common areas, including grassy knolls, bridges, community streets, public lighting, trash removal, snow removal, landscaping common areas and for property management.

The Hanson Oaks Association uses Majerle Management, Inc as their property management company.
